18 Ways Terps Practice Self-Care

The concept of self-care seems to be popping up everywhere – in the media, in therapist’s offices, in our conversations with friends and family- and we couldn’t be happier that self-care is having its moment in the spotlight.

Practicing self-care is empowering, accessible, and a proactive way to enhance your personal sense of well-being.

Self-care is personal and individualized – it’s all about finding what YOU need at any given moment to feel nurtured, fulfilled, and cared for. But that doesn’t mean we can’t draw inspiration from others’ self-care practices.

We recently asked Terps in the Stamp Student Union: What is 1 way you will take care of yourself this semester?

Here are just a few of the ways Terps practice self-care:

  1. Get more sleep.
  2. Be active.
  3. Eat healthy.
  4. Get organized and manage time effectively.
  5. Drink more water.
  6. Drink less coffee.
  7. Drink tea.
  8. Spend less time on my phone.
  9. Put away my phone before going to bed.
  10. Smile more.
  11. Overthink less.
  12. Have alone time to chill.
  13. Get involved.
  14. Take a vacation.
  15. Try meditation.
  16. Practice yoga.
  17. Drop classes that will cause too much stress.
  18. Remind myself that school does not define me.

So, tell us: how do YOU plan to take care of yourself this semester?
