The concept of self-care seems to be popping up everywhere – in the media, in therapist’s offices, in our conversations with friends and family- and we couldn’t be happier that self-care is having its moment in the spotlight.
Practicing self-care is empowering, accessible, and a proactive way to enhance your personal sense of well-being.
Self-care is personal and individualized – it’s all about finding what YOU need at any given moment to feel nurtured, fulfilled, and cared for. But that doesn’t mean we can’t draw inspiration from others’ self-care practices.
We recently asked Terps in the Stamp Student Union: What is 1 way you will take care of yourself this semester?
Here are just a few of the ways Terps practice self-care:
- Get more sleep.
- Be active.
- Eat healthy.
- Get organized and manage time effectively.
- Drink more water.
- Drink less coffee.
- Drink tea.
- Spend less time on my phone.
- Put away my phone before going to bed.
- Smile more.
- Overthink less.
- Have alone time to chill.
- Get involved.
- Take a vacation.
- Try meditation.
- Practice yoga.
- Drop classes that will cause too much stress.
- Remind myself that school does not define me.
So, tell us: how do YOU plan to take care of yourself this semester?
